Aquagraphy: Migrations

A series of works performed in the ancient Persian technique of Ebru modified by the author. The history of this technique goes deep into antiquity and originated in Persia, where it was called the “art of the clouds.” These works provide an opportunity to delve into the rich world of sleep and imagination of the artist. Genuine sincerity in expressing deep inner experiences affects the viewer with incredible power, making him a part of the sacred mysteries. The observer must survive this subtle matter of sleep, to the depths filled with a wealth of fantasies and mysteries. Images of inner life immerse us in a world of obscure creatures. Bright, colorful images are in contrast with a uniform and calm color of the works. As a result, we have a combination of the detached gaze of the observer, together with the very subjective - of the creator. The submissions made in this time-consuming technique are characterized by the subtlety of color relationships, by the manifestation in the outline of forms which have a symbolic meaning and are located in a symbolic space. As you know, the form of external being is always the result of some effort, of the desire to give a constantly indefinite and unfinished inner life a certain appearance in which the observer perceives it.

Sleep is multidimensional, it consists of layers upon layers of visual representations, meanings and emotions. Sleep brings us back to the source. In a dream, questions and answers come. This is a space of pure creativity. In reality, there is a collective illusion of conditionality, suchness, objectivity. Each work of this series - a dream - includes a color as an emotional layer. It is spontaneous, it is born in the process of marbling during the interaction of an actor, an instrument (paper, oil, water) and the points of the universe which we interpret as “now”. This is the aspect of being, of living. The next layer is figurative (a graphic part). It is the aspect of “react”, “respond”. The third layer is the text - it is a process of “aware”, “fix.” Thus, in this spiritual chain, we come to the final aspect - to create, to push, to inspire the viewer to creativity, to self-realization and as a result to a deeper and multidimensional being, infinite, unconditioned, like the universe itself is the goal of this series.

This picture’s fairy-tail, a clue to the meaning:

- We go back and forth. Back and forth, back and forth. From a village to a city, from a city to a village. It’s difficult to decide. We wanted separation, now we want integration; then to join in, later - to crystallize. Is it a contradiction or a natural ripple?
We go back and forth along narrow paths. Then a wider path and a more confident tread. More frequent transitions, less periods of staying in one form or another. We are accelerating, expanding, and more space is required for us.
To join two places into one, to embrace two states at once, you need to be quick and clear. Learning to combine two into one is the first step towards merging everything in a whole.

- Yes, I agree!
